08/22/2025: YSS brought its Hidden in Plain Sight exhibit to the Iowa State Fair, showing parents how to spot signs of youth substance use. The interactive display replicates a teen’s bedroom with 91 items that could indicate risky behavior, helping families learn what’s often overlooked.

Clinton community professionals and community members held their 7th Annual Overdose and Addiction Awareness Vigil for an evening of education and awareness, as well as an opportunity to pay tribute to those lost to overdoses and struggling or recovering from addiction.

Kingdom Living Golf Outing

On August 16th, Kingdom Living hosted a golf outing at Terrace Hills Golf Course. Individuals of all skill levels joined to play at an event full of fun, camaraderie, and, most importantly, one that made a difference!

RISE Recovery Center in Des Moines hosted a Carnival Day with speakers from Des Moines, Iowa City, and Omaha speaking in the "Fun in AA" Panel, followed by lunch and outdoor games on June 29th!

More Recovery Community Centers Coming to Iowa!

IowaHHS has awarded funds to two new recovery centers in Iowa. Clinton, Iowa welcomes the Rediscover Recovery Community Center while Des Moines welcomes the RISE Recovery Center!

Full Circle DSM: Brilliant Lotus Yoga on June 17th

On June 17th, Polly Prodberg hosted a yoga session at Full Circle's Des Moines location focused entirely on using the lotus flower and yoga to understand how recovery works for you.

Multiple Pathways Conference, Des Moines, IA

This conference, which took place from August 21st-23rd at the Embassy Suites in Des Moines, gave space for the leaders in recovery innovation to share their ideas, their stories, and their perspectives on the various pathways to recovery. With a focus on long-term recovery, this conference shared, educated, and empowered attendees.

Iowa's First Sober Music Event: Be bRAVE for CRUSH of Iowa

CRUSH of Iowa hosted a rave event on September 23rd, 2023 with DJs who all have their own stories and experiences with recovery. Kids 12 and under were free, and all proceeds went towards CRUSH of Iowa's funding. This was Iowa's first 100% substance free/sober music event!

Recovery Community Center Honors Son While Helping Others

CRUSH of Iowa has opened a new recovery community center (RCC) in Cedar Rapids. Now, their goal is to help everyone they can—and that starts at the front door.

Recovery Community Centers Awarded Funding

As of April of 2022, four different Recovery Community Centers (RCCs) have been awarded funding from the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH). These RCCs include three centers run by Full Circle in Polk, Pottawattamie, and Woodbury counties, as well as one CRUSH of Iowa center in Linn county.
