Building Community Recovery
A toolbox for creating recovery opportunities.
Strong Communities Support Recovery
When we talk about “community recovery”, we are referring to the ability of a community to support people in recovery on their individual path to well-being. Community recovery gets us thinking about the recovery resources within the community and the different ways the community supports people in recovery.
Resources and recovery services are important for community recovery, including treatment and rehabilitation facilities, medication assisted treatment providers, a hospital or clinic to support physical health, and a vibrant local peer support culture (e.g. Alcoholics Anonymous).
Our community profiles describe how “recovery ready” your community is, and whether your community has the necessary resources to support individuals in recovery. But even in small communities with few recovery resources, recovery can happen.
